What Do We Offer?

Salon Grooms
Bring your dog to us for their Glow-Up Spa Experience! Our fully appointed Salon is quiet and calm and as we work one-to-one, your pet will receive our full attention. Unlike larger salons, your pet arrives at the time they are due to be groomed, and goes home when they are finished, so we don't have animals waiting around in crates, and your dog will not have to deal with any other animals being groomed at the same time. See below for Salon Prices.

Pick up/Drop off
We are fully insured as a Pet Taxi, so if transport is an issue, we can pick up and return your dog to you if you live within 10 miles of IP22 1ER. Add the following to the Salon Prices below:

£30 both ways

In-Home Mobile Grooming
We can offer limited In-Home Appointments for dogs and owners who find it hard to travel. All we need is access to your bath/shower, electricity and a suitable safe space in which to set up our grooming equipment. While we do our best to keep everything tidy, please note your house may get a little hairy! Available within 10 miles of IP22 1ER. Add £30 to Salon Prices below.

Hand stripping
From £50
Some dogs have wiry outer coats that benefit from being hand stripped. This is a process whereby dead hair is plucked out by hand and it has the benefit of maintaining the correct texture and colour of the coat. Most terrier breeds should be hand stripped including Westies, Borders, Lakelands, Jack Russells and Cairns, along with Schnauzers, Wire Haired Pointers and Dachshunds. Some silky coated dogs can also be hand stripped, such as Spaniels and Setters.
Many dogs who are hand stripped for work or the show ring can be safely clipped for pet ownership, so please get in touch to see whether hand stripping is right for your dog.
Puppy Intro Sessions
YOU HAVE A PUPPY?? OMG WE LOVE PUPPIES!
Ahem, sorry about that. But we DO love puppies. And we want them to grow into dogs who are happy and comfortable with anything that life throws at them, which includes grooming.
Depending on the breed, your puppy will likely be seeing a groomer every 8-12 weeks for up to 15 years, so let's make it as stress free and comfortable as possible.
Our puppy intro sessions are designed to get your puppy used to the sounds, smells and touches they will experience at the groomers so that when they are old enough for a full groom, they will take it all in their stride.

Puppy Intro takes place over 4 short sessions, getting your puppy ready for their first full groom. The best time to start is at 14 weeks; after they have had their 12 week vaccinations, but while they are still young enough to accept new experiences easily. We recommend coming weekly for 4 weeks as the repetition helps puppies learn.
£100 for 4 Sessions

Session 1 - 30 mins
This session is all about getting to know each other! You will stay with your puppy for the first session, so that we can make a plan for their grooming going forward. We'll also give you advice on what equipment to buy and show you how to care for your particular dog's coat in between grooms. Bring puppy's favourite treats for lots of rewards while we make friends, and do a grooming health check. We will also show you how to get your puppy used to having their feet, faces and tails touched.

Session 2 - 30 mins
This session is all about getting used to the salon environment and the strange lady with the brush. Lots of rewards while we explore the bath, table and brushes, and all the new smells. We will continue to work on puppy's comfort levels as they learn about being brushed all over and having their nails trimmed. We will work at puppy's own pace on winning their trust and keeping them calm and comfortable.

Session 2 - 45 mins
Depending on how settled your puppy is, we will introduce the bath and dryer, and give them a gentle bath and fluff dry. We'll continue working on confidence and calmness, and will also start to practice the holds and touches that puppies will need to get used to, in order to make grooming successful in future.

Session 3 - 1 hour
Working on the sound of the clippers and the feel of the vibrations, and staying calm with the scissors, we hope to be able to give your puppy a hygiene clip (if breed appropriate) and trim tidy around their face and feet. We'll also get used to the sound of the high velocity dryer, and continue to work on nail clipping.
Puppy's First Groom
Once puppy course and trim has been completed, we can book your puppy in for their first full groom. If they are a breed who needs to be clipped, we would not look to do this until their adult coat comes in at around 6-8 months old. Cutting a puppy's coat too young can affect the adult coat, so we would want to ensure that their coat is ready. Their first full groom is priced according to their size, coat length and styling requirements (see pricing table above).
If your puppy is particularly nervous, we can schedule additional short sessions before their full groom at £20 per 30 min session.
Rehab - For Dogs Who Hate Grooming
Grooming can be stressful for dogs. They are asked to put up with a lot of experiences that dogs don't naturally enjoy, in a strange place with odd smells and weird noises. Being bathed and blow dried, having to stand still to be brushed and styled, having their nails clipped - even the most pliant dog can get fed up with it!
But some dogs have a real fear of grooming. Perhaps they were not introduced early enough in puppyhood. Perhaps they have had an injury or condition that makes it difficult or painful to stand. Maybe they have had a bad experience with grooming in the past. Fear of grooming can cause physical and behavioural responses such as soiling, fighting to escape, and in the worst cases, aggression.

Many salons are not set up to work with aggressive dogs, and a lot of places will not take them. Dogs with grooming anxiety may end up having to be vet groomed under anaesthetic, which is both expensive and not good for the dog long term, and can also be risky for older dogs or those with underlying health conditions.
The good news is that it is often possible to reduce grooming anxiety.
Rehab Program - £100 per 4 sessions

Calm
An anxious dog can be a dangerous dog. If we don't listen to our dog's signals and take note of their emotional state, it's easy to push them over their threshold. We will work slowly, building trust and teaching them to stay calm. Working within the dog's own comfort levels, we help them to understand that grooming is not dangerous, and they don't need to be scared.

Comfortable
In some cases grooming can be painful - for example if the dog is matted or has a pre-existing condition which makes standing difficult. We will do all we can to minimise discomfort, allowing dogs to sit or lay down, not forcing them to do anything they are not comfortable with, and keeping sessions short and as stress-free as possible.

Co-operative
The aim of the sessions is to teach the dog how to accept the grooming process in a gentle and co-operative way. We will not force the dog into anything they are not ready for, and instead will guide them using only positive methods.
Eventually we would hope that the groom becomes easy and stress free for dog, groomer, and owner!

The key to successful rehab is to go at the dog's pace. This can mean that several sessions are required in the beginning, but we would hope to make progress fairly quickly once trust has been established. Progress will also depend on whether the dog has other issues, and it may be that we will refer you to a behaviourist or trainer if there are non-grooming related issues affecting our ability to groom your dog.
You should be aware that we will concentrate on the comfort of the groom over the quality of the cut. It may not be possible to get the perfect style, and we may not be able to finish grooms in one session. The welfare and safety of the dog will always come first!
Extras
We will do our best to complete the groom in the allotted time but occasionally dogs may require extra attention. In these cases there may be an additional charge for time and/or materials
Additional Time/Materials
If your dog has an extremely thick, impacted coat that cannot be shaved (e.g. Malamute, GSD, Collie), then there will be an additional charge to cover products e.g. shampoo, conditioner, detangling sprays, and time taken to work on the coat. This is charged at £20 for up to 30 mins or £30 per full hour.
Extreme matting - £15 blade sharpening + Additional Time.
If your dog is severely matted they will need to be shaved short. Matted coats will blunt our clipper blades, so in these cases a £15 blade sharpening fee will be payable. Matting must be carefully removed so as not to damage the skin, so additional time required is charged at £20 for up to 30 mins or £30 per full hour.
Flea infestations - £25 + £20 cancellation per client hour
If we find evidence of a flea infestation in your animal there will be an additional cleaning/fumigation charge. As we have to cancel our grooms for the rest of the day, you will also be liable for the cost of these appointment sat our basic hourly rate. We will contact you to let you know if this is the case.
